In Pursuit Of Mindfulness

While I type on the computer right now, each click of my fingers harmonizes with the raindrops hitting the window. It makes me stop and pay attention to the rain.

I have always considered rain to slow me down. It makes me want to stay home and drink a cup of coffee or make hot cocoa. I’m a magazine junkie, and I have baskets full of them. I turn those pages one by one, reading things I want to know about that I normally don’t do.

It also becomes a time to be quiet and connect with me. The rain reminds me to stop and pause and do little things I want to enjoy.

Looking outside the window sipping my hot coffee and appreciating that moment and my thoughts go off to appreciation of my wonderful gift called life.

At that moment, I understand the beauty of the present moment unfolding in front of my eyes. And all my senses are detecting what is going on inside of me.

The powerful energy of the pursuit of mindfulness makes you feel alive, fully present to touch the good, the bad and the ugly, the boring, the unpleasant, the habitual, the beautiful, the blissful for your nourishment and your healing.

So how do you do mindfulness? How can you become skillful with awareness in your present time?

How to stay there and encounter a life of staying true to yourself?

The master of Thich Nhat Hanh, the master of mindfulness, says, “The practice of mindfulness requires only that whatever you do, you do your whole being.

For example, when I pour my coffee, the act of meditation is if you pour with mindfulness. As you’re pouring it, don’t think about the past or the future.

Don’t think about what you have to do or where you need to go. Focus entirely on the act of pouring your coffee or tea. Not everyone knows how to drink coffee or tea mindfully.

If you are a mother or father and your little ones are running around the house or you are in a relationship or you are married or a grandma or grandpa. Stop what you are doing and give them a mindful hug. Invest 100 percent of yourself and give your entire self to them. It’s quite magical!
