The 7 Day Coziness Challenge

THE 7 DAY COZINESS CHALLENGE

If you’re feeling the call to add more coziness to your life but are unsure of where to start, never fear! I have designed a seven-day challenge to get you on the path to a cozier, full of charm and warmth.

These simple steps will have your home and life feeling full of warmth in no time.

Day One:

Plan a night when no one uses any screens. Put your phone away in another room and turn off your television. Cook dinner and enjoy it with candlelight. Once the dessert is over, pull out a favorite board game, pour everyone something to sip on, and play with only the glow of the candles to guide you.

Day Two:

Visit a farmers’ market or your local grocer and purchase a bouquet of flowers. Break the bouquet down into smaller bunches, place them in vases or glass jars, and display them around your home to bring a little nature indoors.

Day Three:

There’s an artist in all of us, and what better way to express yourself than through the creation of something tangible? Whether you’re whipping up a batch of cookies or tackling a layer cake, the simple act of baking can be immensely satisfying.

And there’s nothing quite like receiving a personal letter in the mail, is there? So break out the perfume-scented stationery and let your inner artist run wild. Crocheting, painting, woodworking…

There’s no wrong way to get creative. Just remember to savor the satisfaction that comes from working with your hands.

Day Four:

Bundle up and head outdoors. If you are a Floridian or living in warm weather, take a walk on the beach, or head out to a boardwalk. Invite a friend or family member and have pleasant conversations.

If you’re worried about your children, don’t be. They can entertain themselves for hours by throwing rocks into the water or building sandcastles.

And if they get cold, they can always put their coat on. Just make sure you bring a thermos of hot cocoa for everyone. Nothing warms you up quite like a cup of hot cocoa after a cold walk outdoors. Or make fresh lemonade and let your kids build a sandcastle. And enjoy the great outdoors!

Day Five:

If you’re feeling like you need a little more excitement in your life, why not try hosting a movie night? Pop some popcorn on the stovetop (or in the microwave, if you must), gather up some extra blankets and pillows, and turn down the lights.

Then sit back and enjoy something cozy with your family or friends or husband or wife? If you live alone, then enjoy and spoil yourselves. You might just find that it’s the perfect way to add a little zest to your life.

Day Six:

Fill your basket with simple finger foods and bring your favorite bottle of wine or bring a thermos full of something warm and delicious. If the weather isn’t cooperating, have a picnic on your living room floor.

Day Seven:

You know the feeling. It was a long day at work. You trudged through your to-do list, accomplished maybe half of what you set out to do, and now all you want to do is relax.

But relaxation is hard work, isn’t it? It’s not like you can just sit down and turn your brain off. Or can you? Maybe the answer is simpler than we think. Maybe all we need to do is give ourselves permission to relax.

And what better way to do that than by spending the day reading? Whether it’s our favorite book or magazine, reading has a way of transporting us to another world, where all our worries vanish and we can just be.

So go ahead, give yourself permission to relax. Curl up with a good book and let the world melt away.

There’s no better way to add coziness to your life than by surrounding yourself with the people you love. So go ahead and give it a try!
